Who We Are
Why “Eigenvalue”?
An eigenvalue is a number that reveals a system’s intrinsic behavior, no matter the perspective from which it is observed. At the Eigenvalue Institute, we take this as both a symbol and a method: to search for the invariants of reality, those truths that persist regardless of the frame of observation.
Who We Are
The Eigenvalue Institute is an independent nonprofit research initiative dedicated to the discovery of the fundamental structures underlying reality. We focus on advancing theoretical physics through an interdisciplinary approach — bridging mathematics, philosophy, and physics to explore the nature of time, observation, and the limits of knowledge.
Founded by Cherry Speicher, author of Band-Limited Relational Time, the institute was established to create a space where independent researchers and creative thinkers can pursue foundational questions with intellectual freedom..
“People like us, who believe in physics, know that the distinction between past, present and future is only a stubbornly persistent illusion.”
— Albert Einstein
Our Approach
We believe that breakthroughs often happen at the boundaries:
Between disciplines (physics, mathematics, philosophy, and cognitive science).
Between theory and experiment.
Between the known and the speculative.
Our work emphasizes:
Relational Models of Time – exploring frameworks where time emerges from correlations.
Band-Limited Physics – investigating how finite observational capacity shapes what can be known.
Open Inquiry – supporting collaboration across fields and perspectives.
Our Vision
We aim to:
Publish rigorous research in theoretical physics.
Build bridges between physics and other disciplines.
Create an accessible platform where independent researchers can contribute to the global conversation on the nature of reality.
Foster a culture of curiosity, clarity, and creative thinking in fundamental science.
